Posting a Retort

Retorts to posts are a way to be more interactive with your guild members than is often allowed in guild chat.  While guild chat can be momentarily hilarious if you're online at the same time, it lacks a permanency for all to see and participate. So .. offer up a retort to one of our posts.  See what kind of response you get :D

Ahhh ... some of you are having issues with posting retorts to this blog.  When you choose to hit the retort link, you can type in your response .. and then .. oh god, most confusing .. it asks you to identify yourself in some manner through the little drop-down box just below the text for your retort. 

Let me walk you through that.  It's really so easy you'll be shaking your head.

Already have an internet identity you'd like to use?

Many of us already have accounts elsewhere around the internet, such as for Google, Live Journal, WordPress, TypePad, AIM, Open ID.  If you'd like to use the ID from one of those accounts, great!  Clicking on one of those will bring up another little window where you can type in your information.

Using your In-game Name.  (IGN)

The thing about playing games though, is that sometimes you'd like to remain in character.  I certainly don't want my fun here to intrude on the more serious side of my internet identities.  Prospective employers look for silly stuff online and I'd rather be in control of that. So ...

If you'd like to use your ID from this game, you can do it in one of two ways.

1. Go to one of the places already mentioned and create a new account using your IGN.  When you retort, you'll be asked to confirm which identity to use, and  you can type in your IGN account.  This is the method that Zimmi and Iola are using.
2. Name/URL.  If you select this, you'll given another box to type in user name and URL.  I haven't tested, but I think if you type in just your name, without the URL, you'll be okay.

Don't want to be bothered with all of that?

Choose Anonymous.  Jaxey posted an Anonymous comment the other day, but put his IGN into the actual comment so we'd know who it is.   If you do that, we'll post the comment.  Comments without names will not be posted.
